Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender (LGBT)

If you are LGBT and use tobacco, you should know that smoking is a major health concern for the LGBT community, which smoking rates approximately two times higher than in the straight population. Smoking weakens the immune system of those infected with HIV, making it harder to fight off opportunistic infections. LGBT smokers tend to make fewer quit attempts than straight smokers.

There are programs and resources that can help you quit tobacco.

QuitlineNC

QuitlineNC provides the coaching and support that can help you quit. They can send you materials in the mail and offer other tools to help you get started on your tobacco-free life. Quit Coaches have experience working with LGBT tobacco users and know how to help you quit.
